Become a member
Anyone who has an address in a community that is served by a Biblio Outaouais Library, is able to join the Shawville-Clarendon Library.
The cost is $5.00 for an individual or $10.00 for a family and that gives the patrons access to everything the library has to offer. Patrons outside of Shawville Clarendon can pay $10 for individual or $20 for a family membership to the Library. This includes books, movies (both DVDs and VHS), audio books, magazines, access to 3 computers with high speed internet, Wireless internet access, Storytime for children, among other activities and events throughout the year. This small fee is renewable each year.
The Library is part of the Reseau Biblio Outaouais, which serves rural communities in the Outaouais. There are 53 municipalities that share a central database and rotate books twice a year. If there is an item that a patron is looking for and it is not available at the Library, we can request it from one of the other libraries in the network, or if it’s not available there, the request can go nation wide. We have received books from the Vancouver Public Library, as well as the Charlottetown Public Library, essentially from coast to coast. This is all available free of charge to library members.
